Medical Colleges Can Now Operate PCL Nursing Programs

Kathmandu. Medical colleges with 100 beds or more capacity will now be able to operate PCL nursing programs. The path for this has been implemented.

The Supreme Court's Execution Directorate has instructed the National Medical Education Commission and the Ministry of Education and Sports to implement the order of the High Court Patan, opening the way for medical colleges with 100 beds or more capacity to operate PCL nursing programs. Former commission member Dr. Padam Bahadur Khadka informed that the way for an additional 2,000 students to study PCL nursing has been opened.

Applicant Dr. Padam Bahadur Khadka registered a petition at the Directorate on Jestha 12, 2083, after which this letter was issued. Through this letter, it has been stated that institutions that received approval to operate nursing programs before Chaitra 4, 2065, as per the decision of the Medical Education Commission on Shrawan 30, 2077, can submit to the commission for determining additional seats.

In the order issued by the High Court Patan on Ashar 4, 2082, it is mentioned that if the educational programs affiliated by the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training meet the criteria set by the National Medical Education Act, 2075, they can be given permission to operate and submitted to the commission for seat determination. The court has given instructions to address the main sentiment that there should be no obstacle in operating the nursing certificate level program.

This directive is expected to open the way for more than two thousand additional students to study PCL nursing. Institutions that meet the criteria but have not yet received operational approval from the commission can now proceed with the seat determination process in coordination with the commission through the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training.

The letter, signed by branch officer Palsing Lama of the Execution Directorate, has also directed the concerned bodies to implement the order and send information.
