One Woman Dies, Three Injured in Nawalparasi Bus-Truck Collision

Nawalparasi. One woman died and three people were injured when a bus and a truck collided head-on on the East-West Highway in Chisapani, Bardaghat Municipality-2, on Saturday morning at 5 am.

The bus, Lu.Pra.01-001 Kha 0665, traveling from Kathmandu to Triveni, hit the truck, Na.5 Kha 1905, which was coming from the same direction, as the bus was turning after dropping off passengers in Chisapani.

Neha Gurung, 30, a resident of Vinayi Triveni Rural Municipality-6, who was injured in the accident, was pronounced dead by doctors upon arrival at Chisapani Hospital for treatment.

The injured include Madan Chhetri, 32, of the same place, bus driver Laxman Gyawali, 48, of Bardaghat Municipality-4, and Dinanath Chaudhary, 35, of Pratapapur Rural Municipality-9. Gyawali has been referred to Devdaha Medical College, Rupandehi, for further treatment, while others are undergoing treatment at Chisapani Hospital.

Of the 15 passengers on the bus, 11 are safe. The truck driver, Bishnu Thapa Magar, 23, a resident of Dhading Siddhalek Rural Municipality-3, has been taken into custody after the accident.
