Independent Power Producers Association of Nepal (IPPAN) Elects Some Officials Unopposed

Kathmandu. Some officials and members have been elected unopposed in the new executive committee election of the Independent Power Producers Association of Nepal (IPPAN). They have been selected unopposed before the executive committee election scheduled for tomorrow, Friday. Today, Kabita Pokharel was elected unopposed as Deputy Secretary-General, while Ishaa Shrestha, Bijaymohan Bhattarai, Sumankumar Joshi, Kubermani Nepal, and Abhigya Mall were elected as Secretaries. All elected individuals are from the panel of current Vice President Uttam Bhlon Lama. According to the Election Committee, voting for the remaining positions where consensus could not be reached will take place tomorrow, Friday. The Election Committee has stated that the voting process for the selection of the remaining officials and members of the new executive committee will begin tomorrow morning. It is understood that the formal announcement and details of the unopposed elected officials will be made public along with the final results of the election. Current Vice President Uttam Bhlon Lama and General Secretary Balaram Khatiwada were in the electoral competition with separate panels for the selection of the new executive committee. There will be a competition for Senior Vice President between Lama and Balaram Khatiwada. Uttamkumar Shrestha, Narendra Ballabh Pant, Bikram Bist, Bharatprasad Nepal, Bharatbahadur Khatri, Susen Karmacharya, and Himprasad Pathak are in competition for Vice President. Five individuals will be elected as Vice Presidents from among the seven competitors. Teknath (TN) Acharya and Prakashchandra Dulal will compete for General Secretary, while Mithun Chakravarti Prasad Poudel and Shankar Basnyal will compete for Treasurer. Seven members will be elected under the open category, but 14 candidates have filed their nominations. Four candidates have filed nominations for three positions under the women's category. Meanwhile, Energy Minister Birajbhakt Shrestha will inaugurate the IPPAN general assembly to be held tomorrow at Yak & Yeti Hotel.
