Teacher Arrested for Assaulting Student in Hetauda

Makwanpur. A teacher from a private school in Hetauda, Makwanpur, has been arrested on charges of assaulting a student. Police have taken into custody 45-year-old Achyut Ojha, a Social Studies teacher at Tasir English Secondary Boarding School in Hetauda-7, Nagswati, on allegations of beating a student.

According to the District Police Office Makwanpur, on May 7, around 12:40 PM, teacher Ojha assaulted a 12-year-old student studying in class 8 while the student was in the classroom. The student, who sustained a serious head injury from the assault, was taken to Hetauda Hospital for treatment.

After treatment was not possible at Hetauda Hospital, the student was taken to a new medical college in Chitwan, police said. According to Madhav Kafle, spokesperson for the District Police Office Makwanpur and Deputy Superintendent of Police, the injured student is currently undergoing treatment at a new medical college in Bharatpur, Chitwan. According to the hospital, the boy's condition is moderate, he said.

The victim's father, Ramkrishna Bhujel, filed a complaint at the District Police Office Makwanpur on Saturday under the offense against children. Based on that complaint, police arrested teacher Ojha on Saturday evening at 6:45 PM from his residence in Hetauda-6, Putalibazar, spokesperson Kafle said. Police stated that the arrested teacher is being held at the District Police Office Makwanpur for further investigation.
