Google Rolls Out Major Gemini AI Features to Chrome Browser

Google has unveiled new features powered by Gemini AI, making its Chrome browser significantly more powerful.

According to the announcement made on Wednesday, Chrome will now feature cutting-edge AI tools such as an image generation tool named 'Nano Banana,' 'Personal Intelligence,' and 'Auto Browse.'

Google has also redesigned Chrome by adding a panel on the right side where users can interact with the Gemini chatbot while browsing the internet.

Among the newly added features, 'Auto Browse' is generating significant buzz. This is an 'Agentic AI' tool that performs tasks across various websites based on a single command from the user.

For instance, a user can instruct Gemini to order groceries online, search for hotels or flights, and compare different dates. Google claims this feature, available to AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the US, will greatly simplify tasks ranging from house hunting to various other online activities.

According to Parisa Tabriz, Vice President of Chrome, Chrome will now remember the context of past conversations, allowing users to receive precise and personalized answers to their queries. This feature will draw information from apps like Gmail and Google Photos to provide specialized responses to the user.

This update appears to play a crucial role in realizing the concept of a 'Universal Assistant,' envisioned by Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis.

Google is accelerating efforts to make Chrome AI-friendly amid increasing competition from OpenAI's 'Atlas' browser and Anthropic's 'Claude' in the market.

Even after a US court ruled in September that Google held a monopoly in the search market but stated it would not be forced to sell Chrome, Google has further prioritized AI integration into the browser.

With the new update, users will be able to easily operate services like Calendar, YouTube, and Maps from a single webpage.
