Opposition demands regular parliamentary session, threatens special session
Kathmandu, January 15 — Opposition parties have decided to push for a special session of Parliament if the government fails to convene the regular parliamentary session.
This decision was made during a meeting of five opposition parties held at the CPN (Maoist Center) parliamentary office in Singhadurbar.
While sharing details of the meeting’s decision, Maoist Center Deputy General Secretary Barshaman Pun accused the government of ruling undemocratically through ordinances, bypassing Parliament.
According to Pun, the opposition parties have decided to push for a special parliamentary session if the government does not call the regular session, adding pressure on the government to do so.
“The government is ruling undemocratically through ordinances, bypassing the Parliament. Oli had the tendency to rule arbitrarily in the past. It seems to have repeated itself. Inflation has increased, and irregularities have risen. In such circumstances, the opposition parties have demanded the regular session of Parliament. If the regular session is not called, we will push for a special session,” said Pun.
During the meeting, leaders from major opposition parties, including CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' and Unified Socialist Party Chairman Madhav Nepal, shared their views on the current political situation and the role of opposition parties in Parliament.
