Madhes-centric parties hold key meeting to form Madhesi Front

Kathmandu, January 14 — On the day of Makar Sankranti, Madhes-based parties have called for a task force meeting to finalize preparations for the formation of a Madhesi Front.

Madhes-centric parties are coming together amid concerns that the two ruling coalition parties, Nepali Congress and CPN (UML), are planning constitutional amendments to increase the threshold and eliminate the proportional representation electoral system.

Preparations for the formation of the Front are underway at the Samarpan Academy in Dhumbarahi.

Notably, no representatives from the Upendra Yadav-led Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal (JSPN) attended the meeting, despite being invited.

JSPN formed a negotiation committee led by Vice Chairman Rajkishor Yadav, who was expected to attend the meeting but did not show up by the time the news was being prepared. The meeting was coordinated by the Janata Pragatisheel Party (JPP) under the leadership of Hridayash Tripathi.

Dr. Shivaji Yadav, Vice Chairman of the party and the coordinator of the negotiation committee, informed Ratopati that they were waiting for Yadav’s arrival.

Leaders from JSPN, Loktantriki Samajwadi Party (LSP), Terai Madhes Loktantrik Party(TMLP), and the Rashtriya Mukti Party (RMP) of are present at the meeting.
