Western winds affecting Nepal; light rain and snowfall expected in some regions

Kathmandu, December 23 — Currently, the country is experiencing the general effect of western winds, and it is expected that from this evening, the western low-pressure system will begin to affect the Sudurpashchim Province and Karnali Province.

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, partial cloud cover is observed in the hilly regions of Koshi Province, Gandaki Province, and Karnali Province, while the rest of the areas remain mostly clear.

Additionally, some parts of the Terai and hilly regions are experiencing fog or mist.

There is a possibility of light rainfall in some areas of Sudurpashchim Province and Karnali Province.

In addition, there is a chance of light snowfall in one or two places of the high hilly and Himalayan regions of Koshi Province, as well as in many places in the high hilly and Himalayan regions of Sudurpashchim and Karnali Provinces.

The Meteorological Forecasting Division also warns that due to the possible fog/mist in the morning hours in some areas of the Terai and the valley, there could be temporary or partial impacts on daily life, health, agriculture, transportation, and air travel.

The public is urged to take necessary precautions.
