Gold smuggling case: CIB raids Daojin Wang's place

KATHMANDU, Sep 11: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the Police has raided the place of one of the Chinese members involved in the smuggling of gold by hiding it in a vape.

A CIB officer told Ratopati that the raid was conducted at Sitapaila, where Wang previously lived.

Daojin Wang is absconding at present. An officer involved in the investigation said that a digital safe was seized from his place. They have allegedly found a connection between the group who smuggled 60 kg 716 grams of gold Hong Kong and the group that smuggled gold by hiding it in a vape.

The investigation has found the main involvement of 3 Chinese citizens in the smuggling of 60 kg of gold including 'Alex' aka Yao Pucheng, 'Ali' aka Li Wen Sung and Ziquan Lin. They were also found to be involved in the operations "Golden Tap" and "Molten Metal" conducted by the Directorate of Revenue Investigation (DRI) of India.

Daojin was seen in contact with Dawa Chhiring, a Belgian citizen of Tibetan origin and other Chinese citizens.

The CIB has already found a connection between Daojin Wang and Rahul and Nirmal, the sons of the Maoist Deputy Chairman, Krishna Bahadur Mahara.

The Bureau had submitted the investigation report to the Public Prosecutor's Office, which included Krishna Bahadur Mahara as one of the masterminds. Rahul is currently being detained by the Bureau.
