Discussion to hand over investigation of smuggled gold to CIB

KATHMANDU, Aug 4: Discussions have been held with Prime Minister Prachanda to hand over the investigation of around 1 quintal of gold smuggled from Tribhuwan International Airport to the Central Investigation Bureau of Police (CIB).

Director General of the Revenue Investigation Department, Navaraj Dhungana, Attorney General Dr. Dinmani Pokharel, Police Inspector General Basanta Kuwar and AIG of the Central Bureau of Investigation, Kiran Bajracharya, also participated in the discussion on Thursday.

On July 18, a team from the Customs Department seized a 'break pad' containing gold from a taxi driver that was smuggled to Kathmandu through Cathay Pacific Airlines after it came out of the Customs office. 17 people including an Indian and a Chinese citizen have been detained in this case.
