Lionel Messi scores game-winner over Cruz Azul in his debut

MIAMI, July 22: Argentine footballer Lionel Messi scored a breathtaking game-winner free kick on his Inter Miami debut in a 2-1 victory over Cruz Azul.

The 36-year-old star struck the game-winner in additional time as the Major League Soccer club won the Leagues Cup tie.

Celebrities including the NBA's all-time leading scorer LeBron James, the 23 Grand Slam titles holder Serena Williams and the reality show star Kim Kardashian were present in the crowd for Messi's debut.

"We wanted to start like this by giving these people a victory," said Messi, "We knew that it was very important for us to start this championship in winning fashion. Luckily we were able to do it in the end, and I am very happy."
