President Bhandari emphasizes investment in education for sustainable development

Banke–President Bidya Devi Bhandari has asserted that it was imperative to raise on investment in education sector to achieve sustainable development in the country.

Addressing the 50th anniversary of the Prabhat Secondary School at Jigaun of Baijanath rural municipality in Banke district today, President Bhandari underscored qualitative increase in the education of community schools across the country.

Unveiling a monument designed and erected on the golden jubilee of the School, Bhandari drew the attention of teachers and parents alike towards the quality education, arguing that the investment in education would help provide children a quality education.

Stating that the role of community schools and parents were immensely important to make the education pragmatic, useful and quality, she stressed on moral education to be imparted to the children to end social anomalies and aberrations.

Pressing for government’s investment on physical infrastructures for community schools across the country, the Head- of- the- State said that the community schools should be developed as a child-friendly zone.

Emphasizing compulsory and basic education for all citizens, President Bhandari spoke of the need to provide vocational education.

On a different note, Bhandari called upon the government to complete the projects of national pride such as Sikta Irrigation Project and Babai-Bheri Diversion among others that are in this state.

President Bhandari is scheduled to inaugurate a national workshop on climate change today in Nepalgunj at 2 pm.
