NC corrects its circulation, ensures woman participation in awareness drive

Kathmandu– The Nepali Congress has amended its circulation in connection to the upcoming nationwide public awareness drive scheduled to kick off from May 8 and has made sure that every programme under the campaign would have women participants.

In the latest circulation issued by NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba on Friday, instruction has been issued to make ensure participation of women in every such programme either it is in seat-taking or speech delivery session.

The NC has planned a month long nation-wide campaign called ‘Himal Pahad Terai Madhesh, Nepali Congress’ in three phases starting from May 8 in a bid to strengthen the party organization and to educate people about the incumbent’s government wrongdoings.

Earlier, a team of women led by NC Mahasamiti Committee member Nima Giri had submitted the attention letter to the top-ranking leaders and office-bearers of NC to consider an amendment in the circulation.

They had submitted the attention letter to party president Deuba, general- secretary Dr Sashank Koirala, treasurer Sita Devi Yadav and women leaders as Dr Dila Shangruala and Pushpa Bhusal among others.

President Deuba had pledged to correct the circulation and ensure the mandatory participation of women in the various programmes to be conducted during the campaign.

This move is expected to advance the cause of women cadres and leaders and the agenda of inclusiveness within the party. Mahasamiti member Nima Giri shared that they had also warned to boycott the programme where there would be no participation of women.

She said, “The correction in circulation ensuring a mandatory participation of women cadres and leaders in the awareness programmes is a testimony to the fact the NC leadership cannot deny the principal of inclusiveness.” ---
