NA to begin house construction for storm victims from May 4

Birgunj– Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokharel has said that the Nepal Army should complete construction of the houses to the people affected with powerful storm in Bara and Parsa districts without making any delay.

The Federal government has given the responsibility to Nepal Army for the construction of houses there. Talking to media persons, Defence Minister Pokharel, who arrived here today to inspect storm affected area, Puraiya of Pheta rural municipality in Bara district, clarified that the NA would fulfill its responsibility of constructing houses. He said, "There will be no policy-level obstacles in the task of constructing houses for storm affected people.

It will not be affected by any political pressure." Expressing confidence that the state-2 government would not put its dissatisfaction in this issue as the federal government has tried to heal the wound of the victims, DPM Pokharel said that there would be support of the state-2 government in this task as a committee has been formed under coordination of chief secretary of state-2.

A task would begin house construction at 12 storm affected places of Bara and Parsa districts at the same time by forming 12 groups from May 4 where 750 engineers would be deployed, he added.

Similarly, Chief of Army Staff, Purna Chandra Thapa said that a two-room house would be constructed for each family as per the cabinet decision. The federal government has provided Rs 846.87 million to NA for the construction of 1,453 houses in Bara and Parsa districts. ---
