Kathmandu–Youth player from Nepal, Prince Dahal, has won the silver medal in the Yonex- Singha- Roza BTY International Badminton Challenge (Boy’s U-17) 2019 held in Bangkok of Thailand.
He was defeated by Indian player Pranav Rao Gandham in the two straight sets in the final today. He played 15-21 in the first set and 13-21 in the second set, Prince's manager Kamalesh Niraula, said.
Prior to this, Prince booked his place in the final after beating his Indian rival Bikas Yadav in two straight sets in the semi-final match last night.
Prince won the first set 21-9 and the second set 21-13. Similarly, before this he had beaten his Thai competitor Nathappe Shreeunlok in two straight sets in the quarter finals.
Prince is the winner of the title of ‘Dubai Junior International Series’ U-15 (boy’s category) hosted by the United Arab Emirates last year and this is the ever biggest success of Nepal in the international badminton tournament. He finished the recent eighth National Games held in State 5 with a bronze.---
