Vice President to attend closing of Eighth National Games

Nepalgunj– Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun is scheduled to declare the closing of the Eighth National Games in Nepalgunj tomorrow. State-5 Sports Development Committee president Bhim Oli said the Vice President will declare the closure of the Eighth National Games amidst a grand ceremony at the Mahendra Stadium in Nepalgunj on Wednesday.

According to Oli, football final match will take place in the closing ceremony. The Vice President will inaugurate the football final which will be held at 3.30 pm tomorrow.

The semi-final matches of the football competition are being held at present. State-5, Nepal Army Club, the Armed Police Force (APF) Club and Nepal Police Club have reached the semi-finals. President Bidya Devi Bhandari had formally inaugurated the Games at a grand function held at the Nepalgunj Stadium on April 18, although it had begun on April 10.

Thirty-five various events have been held under the Games in Banke, Bardiya, Dang, Kapilvastu and Rupandehi districts of State-5. Some sports competitions among these 35 sports events were held in Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Pokhara. Around 5,000 athletes competed in the Eighth National Games. ---
