Kathmandu– A national women soccer team has been declared to play the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-19 women’s championship qualifier (second round). The 23-member team is captained by Saru Limbu, the All Nepal Football Association said.
Anjana Rana Magar; Rebika Rai and Usha Nath are the goalkeepers while other players are Nisha Thokar, Sushma Maharjan, Rojina Shrestha, Sabita Rana Magar, Manajali Kumari Yonjan, Menuka Ale Magar, Asmita Baidhya, Manisha Raut, Suhani Kushuwar, Preeti Rai, Samjhana Lawati, Rashmi Kumari Ghising, Alisha Jimba, Rekha Poudel and Nirmala Upadhyay, said main coach Hariom Shrestha.
It may be noted that Nepal advanced towards the second round after its outstanding performance in the first round held in Thailand.
The team is leaving for China Wednesday in course of preparations for the competition. The qualification matches of second round have been scheduled from coming April 26-30 in Thailand.
Nepal is in group ‘A’ along with Australia, Uzbekistan and Myanmar. It will meet Australia for the opening match; Uzbekistan on April 28 and Myanmar on April 30 for the final match. A team winning this qualifier will be qualified to compete for the title of AFC U-19 Championship. ---
