Over 3000 visit Shuklaphanta Tourism Festival

Kanchanpur–Over 3,000 people visited the Shuklaphanta Tourism Festival organised here to promote tourism at the Shuklaphanta National Park.

At least 145 vehicles have been recorded entering the park in six days alone, said mayor of Bhimdatta municipality Surendra Bista who is also coordinator of the main organising committee.

Herds of swamp deer, grassland, lakes, elephant sanctuaries, peacock dance, wetlands and movement of birds are among the attractions to the visitors that include ministers, lawmakers, government employees, industrialists and intellectuals including from neighbouring India, said Bista. In this regard, the municipality has granted one day leave to its employees willing to visit the festival.

Organised by all local levels of the district and concerned authorities on the initiatives of the municipality, the fair takes place targeting the Visit Nepal Year 2020, said Bista. Earlier the festival was organised in 2072 BS for the first time by the Nepal Association of Travel and Tour Agents. The festival has helped boost the flow of tourists to the park, said the park's chief conservation officer Laxman Prasad Poudel.
