Kathmandu–The total 18 athletes have been qualified from State 1 for the upcoming Eighth National Games.
The qualified athletes- 10 women and eight men- include Ramesh Madihang and Lukhiram Mardi (Jhapa) in 60 kg category, Debendra Bahadur Dahal Khatri (Jhapa) and Bibek Koirala (Ilam) in 66 kg, Paban Rai (Ilam) and Ranjit Kumar Yadav in 73 kg, Manglu Meche (Jhapa) in 90 kg and Yamuna Prasad Kafle (Sankhuwasabha) in 100 kg.
Likewise, Swastika Subedi (Jhapa) and Sandhya Dahal (Morang) are qualified for 48 kg group, Dil Maya Limbu (Jhapa) and Susmita Karki (Sunsari) in 52 kg, Shreya Magar (Jhapa) and Bidya Devi Khadka (Sunsari) in 57 kg, Aasha Meche (Jhapa) in 63 kg, Durga Bhattarai (Ilam) in 70 kg, Susmita Khawas (Ilam) in 78 kg and Goma Rai (Morang) in above 78 kg.
According to the Eighth National Games preparation secretariat, the process to qualify the athletes for the Games has reached the final state. "We are collecting the list of qualified athletes from all states. We will make public the name list of selected athletes within a week," said the secretariat's coordinator Indra Karki. The Games is scheduled to take place in State 5.
