Nepal beats Kuwait but fails to reach qualifiers of ICC Women World Cup Cricket

Kathmandu– Nepal has defeated Kuwait in the final clash of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Women World Cup Cricket Championship Asia Qualifier underway in Bangkok Thailand.
In the match held at the Bangkok-based Asian Institute of Technology's cricket ground today, Kuwait made only 86 runs losing nine wickets in 20 overs. The Kuwait team was chasing a victory target of 117 runs posed by Nepal before this.
However, Nepal has not been able to make it to the Global Qualifiers despite this win.
Captain Maryam Omar hit the highest 29 runs, Priyada Murali 14 runs and Sabrin Zaki and Mariama Hedar 12 runs each for Kuwait.
Nepal team skipper Rubina Chhetri was successful in taking three wickets in succession in the last three remaining balls in the last over. Rubina, who came for bowling for Nepal when Kuwait were in need of 35 runs in the last over to clinch the match, gave in three runs in the first three balls. She successively took three wickets thereafter. Similarly, Karuna Bhandari took three wickets.
Prior to this, Nepal, who were sent to bat first after losing the toss, made 116 runs in 20 overs at the loss of seven wickets. Bindu Rawal made the highest 28 runs mot-out for Nepal that made a bad start. She hit one four in 49 balls. Nepal had already lost its five wickets by the time it had amassed 48 runs.
Captain Rubina Chhetri made 22 runs, Neri Thapa 19 runs, Kajal Shrestha 18 runs and Indu Barma and Roma Thapa made seven runs each while opener Sita Rana Magar and Sarita Magar were out without making any run.
Maryam Omar and Priyada Murli of Kuwait took two Nepali wickets each.
Nepal out from World Cup Global Qualifier
Despite its victory over Kuwait in its final match, Nepal's chance to reach the World Cup Global Qualifier has ended following a defeat to Thailand by points. Having won five matches, Nepal conceded a 58 runs defeat to Thailand in a match on February 21.
Nepal is placed in the second position with the total 10 points from six matches, while Thailand has secured the first with 10 points. Likewise, UAE is placed in the third with eight points.
