PM seeks international community’s help to make investment conference successful

Zurich ,Switzerland– Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli who is presently in Switzerland in course of attending the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting- 2019 has called on the international community to help make the ‘Investment Conference’ Nepal is hosting on March 29-30 successful. 


The Prime Minister was speaking at a reception organized in his honour by the Geneva-based Nepal’s Permanent Mission to the UN. 


He called on Nepali diaspora to be clear that Nepal was moving towards a positive direction, taking a time to request the foreign friends of Nepal not to be judgmental toward Nepal. The reception was managed by Ambassador Deepak Dhital. 
“Violence has been already a history in Nepal, the management of arms and combatants has been already carried out and the outstanding achievements are in the hand with the country switching to a republic system,”

the Prime Minister said. “The Nepalese people have achieved economic and social rights besides the political rights.” 
Describing the Nepal’s constitution as the ‘best’ constitution in the world, he said that it could be amended as per the need of time. According to him, he was here to put his views about the needs of the nation, destinations and commitments of the Nepali people in the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting. 


Welcoming the Prime Minister and his entourage to the reception, ambassador Dhital said that Nepal was moving ahead under the ‘dynamic’ leadership and Nepal gave the same message to the international community from Davos (where the meet was held). 


NRN Switzerland President Bhumi Raj Gurung said presently around 400 Nepali are residing in Switzerland and they are involved in hotel and restaurant business, tourism, medicine, engineering and banking. 


Swiss Nepalese Society President Markus Ruckstuhl recalled his visit to Nepal as the post-doctorate student in 90’s, adding that since then he shared strong emotional ties with the Nepali community. 


Deputy Chief of the Mission, Tirtha Raj Wagle, talked about various aspects of Nepal-Swiss relations. 
On the occasion, Foreign Affairs Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Finance Minister Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada, National Planning Commission’s vice chair Dr Pushpa Raj Kandel, prime minister’s political advisor Bishnu Prasad Rimal, foreign minister’s advisor Dr Rajan Bhattarai, foreign affairs secretary Shaker Das Bairagi, chief of protocol Deepak Adhikari and Nepali diaspora in Switzerland were present. 


The Prime Minister observed development and tourism infrastructure in Zurich. 
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Gyawali, during his interaction with academicians and professors at the Center for Security Studies, ETH Zurich, said the Nepal’s initiations for the peace process were unique and distinct and its partnership could be widely shared.
