Contractor’s negligence puts irrigation project in limbo

Bhimduttanagar – Owing to sheer negligence of contractor, the Dharapani Irrigation Project based in Krishnapur Municipality-1 Domilla of Kanchanpur has been in limbo. 

The project construction has turned to be in the sorry state of affairs when the Ashish Construction Dhangadhi which was awarded contract for the project did not advance its works despite extension of deadline for two times. 

Though eight months have elapsed since the extension of the contract second time, the Company remained adamant to not carry forward the construction works, said the Office of Hydropower and Irrigation Development Division. 

“The Ashish Construction was given the second deadline to complete the construction works by the third week of February 2018”, said Engineer Grishma Thagunna, Information Officer of Hydropower and Irrigation Development Division Office Bhimduttanagar. He added the contractor has not come to contract despite verbal and written follow-up from the office. 

Engineer Thagunna said a contract of Rs 40.15 million was signed with the construction company for the construction of canal of irrigation project and culvert as well as other infrastructure related works. ---
