New tea processing industry set up in Jhapa

Bhadrapur, Jhapa – A tea processing industry has been established in Jhapa. Small Farmers Tea Production Cooperatives, Haldibari set up the industry at a cost of Rs 110 million with a 50 per cent subsidy from the government. 


The industry aims to make the cooperatives' members self-reliant through tea farming, said Hari Krishna Adhikari, the cooperatives' former accounts coordinator. The cooperative has the total 120 members. 


The industry targets to produce 4,000 kilogrammes tea on a daily basis, and it is sold across the country under the name of CTC tea. The district has a total of 30 tea processing industries into operation.
