Gustung Peak sees first ascent

Myagdi – The first successful ascent has been made on the Gustung Peak based in Gurja of Dhawalagiri rural municipality-1 in Myagdi district.

An eight-member expedition team comprising five French nationals and three Nepalis scaled the 6,465 meters tall peak on Tuesday. The team that set off towards the mountain in the second week of October successfully made it to the summit yesterday, ward chair Jhak Bahadur Chhantyal confirmed. The team was led by Rajan Bhote.

It may be noted that five South Korean nationals and four Nepali had lost their lives to a violent snowstorm that hit their camps on the mount Gurja here on October 10.
