Indian PM Modi Announces Strict Laws Against Paper Leaks

Kathmandu. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a strict law and punishment system against those who 'paper leak' in a special video message released at midnight on Thursday.

Prime Minister Modi said that the cabinet will take a tough decision on this matter and a new bill will be presented and passed in the parliament next week.

Releasing a video of 2 minutes and 56 seconds through social media 'X' at 11:52 PM on Thursday, Modi said, 'Paper leak is not a normal issue. It is very painful for millions of students and their parents. Therefore, we have decided to form a fast-track court to give severe punishment to the culprits.'
According to the Prime Minister, the draft prepared by the concerned departments includes provisions for fast-track courts and severe punishments. This draft will be discussed in the cabinet meeting on Friday. The new law is being prepared to provide for up to 10 years of jail and a fine of up to 1 crore rupees to the gangs involved in the incident of question paper leakage.

This step has been taken to quell the anger that arose after the incident of the NEET exam paper leak on May 3. In this regard, 'Kakroach Janata Party' is protesting at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, and social activist Sonam Wangchuk also protested by fasting.

The government has taken the paper leak incident seriously and has also made major administrative changes in the Ministry of Education. 17 senior officials were transferred and promoted on Thursday.

Meanwhile, opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has criticized Prime Minister Modi's midnight video message as a futile video. Gandhi wrote on social media, 'Mr. Modi, students are demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Do not insult their intelligence by posting such videos at midnight. Remove the minister and apologize to the students.'
