Congress Chief Whip Rai Criticizes Government's Authoritarian Tendencies in Parliament

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress Chief Whip Nishkal Rai has stated that the terror of unauthorized individuals hiding within security cordons is increasing.

Speaking in the House of Representatives meeting on Tuesday, MP Rai said that the situation of terror has been created due to the increasing tendency of not allowing questions and continuous incidents aimed at preventing democracy from being institutionalized.

'The government is becoming autocratic. It must be due to intoxication of power,' he said, 'The mouths of the ruling party MPs are taped.'

He alleged that when questions were raised about the path chosen by Mugu's Ganesh Nepali, the government's behavior was in the style of 'Who are you to ask questions?'.

Rai compared the government's style to Hiranyakashipu and stated that he would not stop questioning the government.

He also accused an individual within the security cordon of threatening citizens staying at the Sukumbasi Holding Center. He stated that the government and the concerned minister are trying to evade responsibility by blaming others for the Holding Center, the Ganesh Nepali incident, and the incident of turning the vehicle. He even went as far as to compare Prime Minister Balen Shah to Shree 8.
