Argentina Secures Strong Lead Against Switzerland in FIFA World Cup 2026 Quarter-final

Kathmandu. In the quarter-final against Switzerland in FIFA World Cup 2026, Argentina has added another goal in the final moments of extra time, taking a strong 3–1 lead.

In the 91st minute of the second half of extra time in the ongoing match at Kansas City Stadium, USA, Lautaro Martinez scored to almost ensure Argentina's victory. He scored the team's third goal from a pass by Julio Lopez.

Earlier, in the 112th minute of extra time, Julian Alvarez had given Argentina a 2–1 lead. In regulation time, Alexis Mac Allister scored for Argentina in the 10th minute with an assist from captain Lionel Messi, while Switzerland's Dan Ndoye had scored the equalizer in the 67th minute.

Switzerland was reduced to 10 players from the 72nd minute after Breel Embolo received a second yellow card, resulting in a red card. Argentina, taking advantage of the numerical superiority in extra time, scored two consecutive goals to turn the game in their favor.

With only a few moments left until the end of the match, Argentina is in a position to confirm a semi-final clash with England.
