Democratic Republic of Congo Ebola Death Toll Reaches 648

Congo. According to health officials of the Democratic Republic of Congo, the number of people who died due to the Ebola outbreak has reached 648 on Saturday, and 1,830 cases of infection have been registered.

Officials said the latest data includes infections and deaths registered in the last 24 hours.

Health Minister Samuel Roger Kamba said in a statement that the government has expanded the list of provinces highly affected by the Ebola outbreak to include Sopho and Hat-Yule in the north and northeast of the country.

The World Health Organization (WHO) had earlier warned that the actual extent of the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo could be two to four times higher than official figures.
