Five Arrested for Motorcycle Theft in Kathmandu

Kathmandu. Following information about continuous motorcycle theft outside dance bars in Kalimati and Kalanaki areas of Kathmandu, police have arrested 5 people. Those arrested include 29-year-old Rajkumar Pariyar from Mahankal, Lalitpur, 33-year-old Indrabahadur Waiba, 29-year-old Panchal Blon from Chandranigahapur, Rautahat, 24-year-old Sabin Bhulan from Bagmati Rural Municipality-5, Lalitpur, and 24-year-old Anil Yonjan from Bethanchok, Kavre.

Anil Yonjan, who resides in Mahankal, Lalitpur, was arrested on the charge of buying stolen motorcycles. Police investigation has revealed that Yonjan purchased a two-twenty Pulsar at a cheap price from Indrabahadur, who was involved in the theft. SSP Santosh Khadka of the Valley Crime Investigation Office told Ratopati that those arrested on Asar 19 and 21 have been sent to District Police Complex Kathmandu and Kalimati Police Station for further investigation and action.

Panchal Blon and Indrabahadur Waiba used to frequent the Kalanaki area. They made motorcycle theft their profession and used to go to dance bars in the Kalanaki area at night. Police investigation concludes that after spending the money earned from selling stolen motorcycles in dance bars, they would steal motorcycles and flee. An officer involved in the investigation says, 'It appears they used to steal motorcycles using a master key after leaving the dance bar.'

Police officers say that they used to go to dance bars again after selling the stolen bikes. Rajkumar Pariyar from Mahankal, Lalitpur, is an accused in theft in the Kalimati area. After going to dance bars, he used to steal motorcycles from alleys in Kalimati and flee.

Police officers involved in the investigation say, 'It appears the accused used a master key for theft.'

Before going to and after leaving dance bars, they used to scout for motorcycles. Then, using a master key, they would start the motorcycles and flee. Investigation has revealed that the accused also stole motorcycles from Balaju area, Kapurdhara, and Tahachal.

The team from the Crime Investigation Office has recovered 4 stolen motorcycles. SSP Khadka said that Kathmandu Duke and Pulsar motorcycles were recovered. The District Police Complex Kathmandu and Kalimati Police Station are investigating the accused.
