Bollywood Star Salman Khan Faces Legal Trouble Over Goa Housing Project

New Delhi. Bollywood star Salman Khan has got into another legal dispute. The Goa bench of the Bombay High Court has issued a notice in a public interest litigation filed in connection with a housing project related to him in Candolim, Goa.

The petition alleges that residential villas have been constructed in violation of Coastal Regulation Zone rules near an area protected under environmental law.

What are the allegations?

The petition filed by the Calangute Constituency Forum has questioned the legality of the construction. It is stated in the petition that residential villas and related facilities have been built in an environmentally sensitive coastal area where construction activities are strictly prohibited.

According to the Daily Gomantak, the petition alleges that Classic City Investments Private Limited, a company related to Salman Khan, has constructed villas and swimming pools about 55 meters away from the high tide line of the Sinquerim River. It is also alleged that the actor is the managing partner of the company involved in the project.

The petition also mentions that the construction deviates from the approved building plan. Government bodies have been made respondents. These include the Goa government, Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority, Candolim Gram Panchayat, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, as well as Salman Khan and Company.

The petitioner has requested the court to determine whether environmental regulations were followed before approving the project. It is reported that the Goa bench of the Bombay High Court has taken cognizance of the petition and issued a notice to all respondents to file their response. Further responses in the case will be heard.
