Dagnam Settlement Protection Plan Completed in Myagdi

Myagdi. A settlement protection plan has been constructed in Dagnam of Raghuganga Rural Municipality-4 in Myagdi. The landslide and river erosion that put Dagnam's settlement at risk have been controlled through the Irrigation and Water Resource Management Project Office, Pokhara.

Ward Chairman of Raghuganga Rural Municipality-4, Pravin Gurung, stated that retaining walls have been constructed at the foothills of Dagnam village, the foothills of Kanchigaun's Panakot, and along the banks of Kummakhola with a budget of Rs 30 million allocated by the federal government. "Dagnam village, situated on a steep slope, was at risk from landslides and erosion by the Kummakhola," he said, "After constructing gabion walls and retaining walls, the risk of landslides, floods, and erosion has decreased."

Ward Chairman Gurung mentioned that the residents of Dagnam, where more than a hundred households reside, feel safe after the construction of the project. The road connecting the center of Raghuganga Rural Municipality, Mauwaphat, to Dagnam, Darmija, Chimkhola, and Kuine Mangale has also been secured. Himalayan Construction-Tandapeshwor-Himalayan Builders JV had signed a contract for this project for Rs 22.569929 million on Falgun 29, 2082 B.S.

Engineer of the Irrigation and Water Resource Management Project, Narjang Gurung, informed that the work of constructing 3,753 cubic meters of gabion walls through the project has been completed. He stated that the project, with a contract deadline until Asar 19, has been completed ahead of schedule.

Ravindra Karki, representative of the construction company, said that despite the increase in fuel and construction material prices, they managed to complete the project ahead of schedule and fulfill their responsibility by managing construction materials, labor, and equipment immediately after the contract.

Similarly, with an investment of Rs 23.9 million from the federal government, 900 meters of the road connecting the center of Raghuganga Rural Municipality, Mauwaphat, to Dagnam-Darmija-Chimkhola-Ghyasikhark, have been paved and made concrete in the Auri, Bugal, and Dagnam sections. Ward Chairman Gurung said that residents of Dagnam, Darmija, Chimkhola, Ghyasikhark, Mangalekhani, Chaurkhani, and Patlekhark villages have benefited.
