Deuda Singer Sheriram Auji Balances Police Duty with Music Career

Kanchanpur. The Deuda song with the lyrics 'A Rupa Tero Lehenga Jabarjast Chha, Ter Aankho Ma Sara Duniya Maagan Mast Chha' released in the market five months ago is very popular.

This Kumaoni pattern song, sung by Lok and Deuda singer Sheriram Auji, who has been active in Deuda singing in Sudurpaschim for almost two decades, is currently winning the hearts of Deuda enthusiasts.

This song went viral on social media when it was released. Auji said that this song alone has received 5.4 million views on YouTube.

Auji, who occasionally releases popular Deuda songs and heats up the market on platforms like YouTube and TikTok, is not limited to being just a Deuda singer. He is a Police Assistant Sub-Inspector in the Nepal Police organization.

Auji, who has spent 17 years in police service, continues his musical journey alongside his police responsibilities. Born in Bijul, Panchashwari Rural Municipality-6, Baitadi, Auji started singing Deuda in Sudurpaschim in 2006. He was interested in Deuda singing since school and even won first place in the district-level singing competition of schools.

Currently working at the District Police Office, Kanchanpur, Auji had already released two songs before passing SLC from his village and joining the police as a constable in 2009. He said about his daily routine, 'After finishing duty, I enter the barracks, and as soon as I get free time, it has become a habit to spend time singing and creating new work.'

In 2006, as a teenager, he came to Mahendranagar from Baitadi and recorded his first song titled 'Ghar Chhuto, Gharbar Tuto Deuda'. He has the experience that his first song was played a lot on FM radios in Sudurpaschim at that time and is still equally loved by the audience.

Recently, the song 'A Rupa' with music and lyrics collected by artist Masum Bisht from Mahendranagar and sung by singer Auji is popular not only in Sudurpaschim but also in the border areas of India, Kumaon, Pithoragarh, and Garhwal. Auji, who currently resides in Sukasal, Bhimdatta Municipality-5, has lent his voice to more than one hundred songs in Sudurpaschim. More than a dozen of his songs are still very popular in Sudurpaschim.

He has also released songs related to drug awareness and police awareness. Three years ago, he released the song 'Prahari Lai Khabar Garau, Hargadi Aauchha Prahari, Seva Garna Aauchha Prahari'. He himself presents such songs in awareness programs organized by the police.

He expressed his happiness that the police organization and his family have equally supported his singing journey after duty. Sheriram said that Maheshkumar Auji, another well-known Deuda singer from Sudurpaschim, is his elder cousin and is his inspiration in the field of music.

His Deuda song 'Meri Maya Sheetalu Chhaya', which includes the art, culture, and tourist destinations of all nine districts of Sudurpaschim, is also very popular. He spends his free time after police duty on music and performs on stage at fairs and festivals in Sudurpaschim during holidays.

Clarifying his priorities, he said, 'Duty is my first priority. I have taken the music field along with the plan to continue music as well.' He informed that since the Deuda songs are greatly liked by the listeners and audience, the return on investment is good, and although he receives invitations for musical performances from the Indian border areas, he only goes when time permits.
