Monsoon Affecting Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati; Expected to Expand

Kathmandu. Currently, the monsoon wind's influence is present across the entire regions of Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati provinces, some parts of Gandaki province, and the eastern region of Lumbini province. The influence of westerly and local winds is present in other areas.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, there is a possibility of monsoon expansion within the next three to four days across the remaining areas of Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, and throughout Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces. Currently, the Terai region of Sudurpaschim province is mainly clear, while there is partial cloudiness in the rest of the country. Light rainfall is occurring in one or two places in Koshi, Bagmati, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Today afternoon, the country will generally be under cloudy skies. There is a possibility of moderate rainfall and snowfall with thunderstorms in some hilly and mountainous areas, and moderate rainfall with thunderstorms may also occur in some places in the Terai, the Department has stated. There is a possibility of heavy rainfall in one or two places in the hilly and Terai regions of Koshi province. Gusts of wind may blow in some places in the Terai and Madhesh provinces of Koshi province.

Tonight, the country will remain generally cloudy. There is a possibility of moderate rainfall and snowfall with thunderstorms in many places in Koshi province, some hilly areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, and a few mountainous areas. There is also a possibility of moderate rainfall with thunderstorms in some hilly areas and one or two mountainous areas of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, the Department has stated.

Similarly, there is a possibility of moderate rainfall with thunderstorms in some places in the Terai regions of Madhesh province, and Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces. There is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in some places in the hilly and Terai regions of Koshi province, and heavy rainfall in one or two places in Madhesh province.

Gusts of wind are likely in the Terai regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, and some places in Madhesh province.

The Department has urged the general public in areas where gusts of wind and heavy rainfall are forecast to take necessary precautions.
