Second Edition of Indian Ambassadors Cricket Tournament Begins in Kathmandu

Kathmandu. The second edition of the 'Indian Ambassadors Cricket Tournament' organized by the Indian Embassy in Nepal has started in Kathmandu. 

A total of 8 teams are competing in the T-20 format in this tournament which will run from June 26 to 28. The matches of the tournament are being conducted at TU International Cricket Ground (TU) and Mulpani Cricket Stadium.

The tournament was jointly inaugurated by the Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, and the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of Nepal, Gahendra Raj Bhandari, at the TU Cricket Ground. The opening match was played between the team of the Indian Embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal. The Secretary-General of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), officials from the British Embassy and Australian Embassy in Nepal, as well as a large number of cricket lovers from Kathmandu, were present at the opening match and ceremony.

The eight teams participating in the tournament include the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal, the Indian Embassy in Nepal, a joint team of diplomatic missions in Kathmandu, Nepali media (media), former cricketers of Nepal, government officials of Nepal, corporate organizations, and a team of Indian citizens (diaspora) in Nepal. The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has provided technical and managerial support for organizing this tournament, for which the Indian Embassy has also expressed its gratitude to CAN.

This annual cricket tournament aims to celebrate the spirit of cricket as a festival. It is believed that cricket has always brought the people of Nepal and India closer, and this tournament will further strengthen and deepen the people-to-people cultural and mutual relations between the two countries.
