'Economic indicators are positive', claims Finance Minister Khatiwada

Kathmandu – Finance Minister Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada has said the economic indicators of the first two months of the current fiscal year were positive.
Addressing a press conference organised by the Society of Economic Journalists of Nepal (SEJON) at the Finance Ministry on Tuesday, he said revenue Rs 120 billion has been collected in the months of Saun and Bhadau.
The Finance Minister shared on the occasion that the current expenditure has reached Rs 96 billion and the capital expenditure Rs 6 billion during the two months.
According to him, the revenue collection has increased by 37 per cent this year in comparison to the corresponding period last fiscal year. However, the capital expenditure has not been satisfactory.
Finance Minister Khatiwada said there is no liquidity crunch, the capital market was improving, tax purview has been increasing and the interest rate of loan has seen improvement.
He also mentioned that the e-service has been implemented for making the expenditure system of revenue and income transparent, the VAT has been refunded to the sugarcane farmers and the bill on public investment was in the process of being presented in parliament.
