Rastriya Swatantra Party General Secretary Candidate Expresses Discontent Over Withdrawal of Candidacy

Chitwan. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) General Secretary candidate Ganesh Karki has expressed dissatisfaction over the trend of withdrawing candidacies and supporting other candidates.

Making his views public through Facebook on Friday, Karki stated that there is a contradiction between the party president's statement during the general convention's inauguration and the subsequent events.

He recalled that during the general convention's inauguration, the president had said, "An RSP member who asks for votes for others is not a true member," and commented that the incident of withdrawing candidacy and supporting another candidate shortly thereafter mocked the president's statement.

Karki mentioned that such practices reflect the coalition and panel culture that the party has been criticizing since the past, calling it a wrong practice.

He stated that while elections are a recurring process, the party's methods, policies, and character are long-term, and it is the leadership's responsibility to strengthen them. He added that the leadership should not engage in manipulation or group formation.

Mentioning that the general convention representatives participated in the democratic process by investing time, labor, and financial resources, Karki expressed the view that their right to vote freely should not be taken away for any reason. His views came after some RSP candidates withdrew their candidacies and announced their support for Bipin Kumar Acharya.
