Major Highways Affected by Rain, Landslides, and Road Maintenance

Kathmandu. Main highways have been affected due to rain, floods, landslides, and road maintenance work in various parts of the country. According to the latest data from the Nepal Police, some major road sections are completely closed while vehicular movement is only one-way in some places.

Two important alternative roads connecting Kathmandu and Makwanpur will be closed for a long time for maintenance. The Satungal-Chitlang road section in Chandragiri Municipality-9 Deurali Devsthan of Kathmandu and the Kulekhani-Phakel-Humane-Pharping road section in Indrasarovar Rural Municipality of Makwanpur have been completely closed for one month due to maintenance work.

Similarly, vehicular movement has been stopped on the Khurkot-Nepal Thok-Katunjebesi section of Kavrepalanchok under the BP Highway, keeping in view the risk of potential floods.

The Mid-Hill Highway has been affected in two districts of Koshi Province. The road has been damaged due to floods in Bokhim of Bhojpur Municipality-5 and Dobhan of Yangwarak Rural Municipality-2 of Panchthar. Currently, the road is only open one-way in both these places. It has been informed that an alternative route can also be used in Bhojpur.

Traffic service has been disrupted due to landslides in Rolpa district of Lumbini Province. The Shahid Highway in Banga of Parivartan Rural Municipality-1 is completely obstructed due to landslides, affecting the daily life of that area.
