Four Arrested for Unauthorized Yarsagumba Collection in Myanglung

Tehrathum. Four people have been arrested on charges of illegally collecting Yarsagumba. They were arrested from Myanglung Municipality for picking Yarsagumba without permission.

According to the police, Jivan Limbu, Karnabahadur Limbu, Badal Limbu, and Harkabahadur Shrestha from Madi Municipality-9, Sankhuwasabha, have been arrested.

The police have recovered 13 Yarsagumbas and nine motorcycles from them, informed Raja Babu Thakur, Police Inspector and Information Officer at the District Police Office.

A police team was mobilized based on information that 20-25 people were collecting Yarsagumba in the Bhusine-Jiptare Community Forest area in Myanglung Municipality-6 on Tuesday. They were arrested with Yarsagumba at the place where motorcycles were parked. They have been handed over to the Division Forest Office, informed Deputy Inspector General Thakur.

Badrinath Shah, Forest Officer at the Division Forest Office, said that Yarsagumba can only be collected after paying revenue. There is a provision of a fine of Rs 31,000 per kilogram for illegally collecting Yarsagumba, and Rs 31 per piece will also be charged.

Sunny Jha, Information Officer at the Division Forest Office, said that revenue of approximately Rs 3 lakh is collected annually from exports and Rs 4 to 5 crore from timber forest products.
