Reconstruction of quake damaged schools in full swing

Chautara –Reconstruction of 528 school buildings damaged by Gorkha earthquake has been accelerated in Sindhupalchowk district. 


As many as 1,380 classrooms of 528 school buildings damaged by the earthquake have been reconstructed so far. In the current fiscal year, reconstruction of 1,039 classrooms is planned and the works for it is expedited, said chief of district project implementation unit (education), Krishna Prasad Subedi. 


Out of 460 classrooms of 103 schools, 199 classrooms were reconstructed in the fiscal year 2073/074. Similarly, in the fiscal year 2074/75, 230 classrooms out of 435 in 103 schools were rebuilt. 


On the other hand, a total of 1,150 classrooms have been rebuilt with joint initiation of District Education Office and the national and international organizations working in the district. 


The reconstruction is continued under the respective school management committees. The education unit had released Rs 562 million to finance the rebuilding in 2073/074 while Rs 295 million in 2074/075.
