Nepal Women's T20 team secures second consecutive victory in Asian Games qualifiers

Kuala Lumpur. Nepal has secured its second consecutive victory in the Asian Games Women's T20 qualifiers. In a match held on Thursday at the Biomass Oval ground in Kuala Lumpur, Nepal defeated Indonesia by 4 wickets.
Nepal chased down the target of 114 runs set by Indonesia with the loss of 6 wickets and 3 balls to spare. Captain Indu Verma remained not out, scoring a highest of 42 runs. She faced 43 balls and hit 5 fours. Sony Pakhrin contributed 29 runs off 36 balls.

Similarly, Kabita Kunwar scored 14 runs and Sita Rana Magar added 13 runs not out. Puja Mahato scored 9 runs. From Indonesia, Ni Made Putri Suwandewi and Ni Ariyani took 2 wickets each.

Earlier, after winning the toss and batting first, Indonesia scored 113 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Captain Ni Putu Ayu Nanda Sakarini played a half-century innings, scoring 56 runs. Ni Luh Dewi provided good support with 23 runs.

From Nepal, Manisha Upadhyay took 2 wickets and Ria Sharma took 1 wicket. This is the second consecutive victory for Nepal in Group B of the tournament. The team had defeated China by 19 runs in the first match.

With this, Nepal has become the group winner with 4 points from two matches, while China has become the runner-up with 2 points. Nepal will now play its semi-final match against Malaysia, the runner-up of Group A.

A total of three teams, including the two teams that reach the final and one team that wins the third-place playoff, will secure a place in the 2026 Asian Games to be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
