Nepali Youth Ashwin Raj Pokharel Selected for FIFA World Cup 2026 Management Team

Kathmandu. The 'FIFA World Cup 2026', the grand festival of world sports, is less than three weeks away. While preparations for the World Cup are in full swing, a young Nepali has also been given an important responsibility. Young Nepali Ashwin Raj Pokharel has been selected as a 'Lead' at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas, USA, where the World Cup semi-final match will be held. Here he has been given the responsibility of Lead in the stadium management team.

The 2026 World Cup is being jointly hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico. In this series, Ashwin has been given a leading role in managing and operating the stadium for the matches to be held at the Dallas stage, especially for the semi-finals.

Ashwin, whose permanent home is Anamnagar, Kathmandu, went to the USA for higher education in 2018. He completed his undergraduate and postgraduate (Masters) degrees from the USA. Before going to America, he used to handle video editing and uploading work at the media company 'Highlights Nepal' in Nepal.

After reaching America, he continued his hard work. He also gained experience at the world-famous e-commerce company 'Amazon' for some time.

Currently, he is active in event management. He has successfully managed major events in Dallas involving famous artists like Arjun Rampal and Tamannaah Bhatia. Due to that experience and capability, he has been chosen for the FIFA World Cup management team.

What is his responsibility?

Ashwin's team is responsible for the overall operation within the stadium and enhancing the fan experience. His main responsibility is to streamline service delivery within the stadium in collaboration with 'Coca-Cola', one of the main sponsors of the World Cup.

His tenure is based on a two-month contract from May 20 to July 14. During this period, he will be mobilizing other staff and volunteers as a leader of stadium management.

Ashwin considers this opportunity not just a personal success but a matter of pride for all Nepalis. He says, 'I want to prove the slogan that Nepalis can do anything when given the opportunity.' Besides this, through his own company 'S Finance', he has also been providing credit transfer and other technical support to Nepali students.

His dream is not limited to management alone. In a video message, he said, 'My dream is to see the Nepali national team playing in this stadium one day. I want every Nepali to see our country on the World Cup stage one day.'
