Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naeem Qassem States Organization Will Retain Weapons

Beirut. Lebanese armed group Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naeem Qassem has stated that his organization will keep its weapons to prevent Israeli aggression and potential 'genocide' in Lebanon.

Addressing on the occasion of 'Resistance and Freedom Day' on Sunday, Qassem said that the resistance movement was born from the leadership of 'martyr leader of the Ummah' Hassan Nasrallah.

He also accused that there is no meaning for the Lebanese government to hold direct talks with Israel and America, claiming that those talks will only serve the interests of the 'Zionist regime'.

According to Qassem, even after 15 months of diplomacy, the Lebanese government has not achieved any success against the Zionist enemy. He also accused America of being active in fulfilling its own interests rather than being an impartial mediator.

Warning that if Hezbollah is disarmed, another Israeli genocide may occur in Lebanon, he clarified that the organization will keep its weapons. According to him, the resistance force will not abandon its weapons until the Lebanese government is fully independent and capable.

Calling Israel an expansionist enemy, he said that it is trying to gradually eliminate the resistance force in Lebanon.
