Nepali Congress Leader Shekhar Koirala Proposes 5 Points for Party Unity

Kathmandu. After the special general convention held at the end of Poush, leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has put forward 5 proposals to maintain unity in the Nepali Congress, which has been embroiled in controversy. The secretariat informed that Dr. Koirala presented 5 proposals to maintain party unity to President Gagan Thapa, General Secretary Pradip Paudel, and others who came to meet him. Dr. Koirala had also stated in a conversation with Rato Pati on Sunday that he had presented some proposals to the President and office bearers to maintain unity in the party. 'I don't need to be a senior leader. I have said that unity must be maintained in the party. For that, I have given some tasks to the party office bearers,' Koirala had said. General Secretary Pradip Paudel met him on Chaitra 22, and President Gagan Thapa met him on Baishakh 23 at his contact office in Bishalnagar. His personal secretary Dineshchandra Thapaliya informed that Koirala presented these proposals in those meetings and subsequent informal discussions with the party leadership and office bearers. These are Koirala's 5 proposals to maintain party unity 1) Not making the update of active membership mandatory for the 15th general convention.

2) Conducting the 15th general convention based on the active memberships renewed and distributed after the 14th general convention. 3) Adjusting the central working committee of the 14th general convention and the central working committee of the special general convention to make them one. 4) Forming the work execution committee with the president having a majority. 5) Forming the election committee, active membership investigation committee, disciplinary committee, statute committee, and other committees only by mutual agreement.
