Bruno Fernandes Sets All-Time Assist Record in Manchester United's Win

London. Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has set an all-time record for the most assists in a single season in the same season he won the Premier League and Football Writers' Player of the Year award. 

Fernandes's record-breaking performance and a personal goal helped Manchester United secure a spectacular victory over Brighton. With this win, Michael Carrick's first game as the club's permanent head coach became a happy one.

Before the game started, the home team Brighton had a slim hope of qualifying for the Champions League next season. But by the end of the game, they were seen struggling to secure a spot in next season's UEFA Conference League. 

Although Sunderland overtook Brighton in the league table, Brighton managed to secure a place in the Conference League by finishing in eighth place because Brentford could not catch up. While qualifying for a European competition for the second time in the club's history is a cause for celebration, the fans' applause in the stadium was quite muted when the final whistle blew. Supporters appeared disappointed with the team's lackluster performance under coach Fabian Hürzeler, but happiness spread in the stadium only after the news of a favorable result from Anfield was confirmed.

Meanwhile, the visiting team United remained indifferent to Brighton's situation and was immersed in the joy of their own victory. United's supporters, who had been defeated in four of their previous seven away games on this ground, tasted a different result this time. 

This is United's 12th win in 17 games under Carrick's leadership since he took charge in January. When Carrick took over, very few fans believed that United could return to the Champions League next season after a two-year absence. Carrick was handed the responsibility of permanent coach primarily because he successfully secured the team a Champions League ticket with ease.

Captain Fernandes's contribution was most significant in bringing United to this height. In the match against Nottingham Forest last week, Fernandes equaled the record for the most assists in a single season held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne, and he broke it in this match. In the first half of the game, his corner pass was headed into the net by Patrick Dorgu, establishing Fernandes's sole record in Premier League history. 

After that, Bryan Mbeumo scored United's second goal through an excellent one-two pass combination between Amad Diallo and Mason Mount. Three minutes into the second half, Fernandes's shot turned into a goal, securing a comfortable 3-0 victory for United.
