Indian PM Narendra Modi Awarded Sweden's Highest Honor

Stockholm. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been awarded the 'Royal Order of Polar Star Commander Grand Cross' honor in Sweden. 

This is Sweden's highest honor, which is only given to the Prime Minister or Head of State of any country. 

Prime Minister Modi was given this honor in a special ceremony organized in the city of Gothenburg, Sweden on Sunday. This is the 31st international honor received by Prime Minister Modi. 

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and high-ranking leaders from various countries were present at the program honoring Modi. The 'Royal Order of the Polar Star' honor was established in 1748. 

There is a history of this award being established to recognize and identify specific work done for Sweden or for the benefit of Sweden.
