Congress Leader VD Satheesan to Take Oath as Chief Minister of Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram. In India's Kerala state, Congress leader VD Satheesan will take oath as Chief Minister on Monday. 

The oath-taking ceremony of the Chief Minister and ministers is scheduled to begin at 10 AM Indian time at the Central Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala.

In Kerala, along with the Chief Minister, 20 ministers will also take the oath in the new government of the United Democratic Front (UDF). The names of the leaders who will become ministers were made public on Sunday. 

Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, and MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra are scheduled to arrive in Thiruvananthapuram to participate in this special ceremony.

With the formation of the new government, Congress has also kept the posts of Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Assembly in its favor. Congress has decided to make 'Tiruvanchur Radhakrishnan' the Speaker of the Assembly and 'Shanimol Usman' the Deputy Speaker.

Voting for the 140 seats of the Kerala Legislative Assembly was held on April 9. In the results made public on May 4, the Congress-led UDF alliance registered a spectacular victory in 102 seats, obtaining a clear majority to form the government.
