Rasmus Hojlund Permanently Joins Napoli from Manchester United

Manchester. Denmark striker Rasmus Hojlund will permanently join Italian club Napoli from Manchester United.

His journey has been confirmed after helping Napoli qualify for the Champions League by securing a win against Pisa in Serie A.

Arriving in Naples on loan last August, he assisted his former United teammate Scott McTominay for the first goal in the 21st minute of the match at the Stadio Romeo Anconetani.

Six minutes later, defender Amir Rrahmani doubled the lead with a header from Eljif Elmas's corner. Hojlund added a third goal in second-half injury time, bringing his Serie A goal tally this season to 11.

With this victory, Napoli, in second place, has secured a spot in the Champions League by remaining in the top four of Serie A. Antonio Conte's team Napoli is now 5 points ahead of Como in fifth place with one game remaining.

As per the terms of the contract, Napoli will now be obliged to make Hojlund a permanent player for £38 million. Hojlund wrote on Instagram, 'This goal feels symbolic because it signifies two things: we have secured the Champions League with Napoli, and due to my contract, I am now officially a Napoli player, bidding farewell to Manchester United.'

He further wrote, 'It feels a bit strange because for the past year, I have already felt like a Napoli player. I am very grateful for how the fans supported me, made me feel at home, and helped me regain my confidence. Saying goodbye to Manchester United also feels emotional.'

Expressing his childhood emotions, he added, 'My childhood dream of playing at Old Trafford in a red jersey has come true. Therefore, today's goal symbolizes a new confident start, where I will give my all for Napoli in the coming times and thank all the fans, players, and staff of Manchester United who made my childhood dream come true. Now is the time for new dreams, and let's chase them.'

The 23-year-old player Hojlund has played 43 matches across all competitions, scoring 15 goals and providing 8 assists since returning to Italy. Before moving to United for £64 million in 2023, he used to play for Atalanta in Italy. Napoli will secure second place in the league if they defeat Udinese on the final day of the season.
