Surath Lama Wins Bronze Medal at World Taekwondo President's Cup

Kathmandu. Nepali-origin Taekwondo player Surath Lama, residing in Scotland, has won a bronze medal at the World Taekwondo President's Cup. 

He succeeded in winning an individual bronze medal for Team GBR (Great Britain) in the Under-60 men's category at the 'World Taekwondo President's Cup G3-2026' held on May 3. 

Expressing happiness after winning the medal in the competition, Lama said, 'The President's Cup G3 competition is a very prestigious title and I am extremely happy.'

Lama started playing Taekwondo in 1986 from Delhi. After the 2015 earthquake in Nepal, he reached Britain in July 2015. Currently, he is continuing the sport of Taekwondo while working at Perth & Kinross Council in Scotland.

He became the Scottish National Champion in 2022 and 2023, and the Scottish Open Champion in 2023 and 2024. Similarly, he won the Regional Champion title in 2023, 2024, and 2025, and also became the Lanarkshire Open Champion in 2023. 

Lama also participated in the Taekwondo Poomsae Under-60 men's category at the British National Competition held in Nottingham in 2024 and 2025.
