Prime Minister Balen Shah Congratulates Kami Rita Sherpa and Lakpa Sherpa on Everest Ascents

Kathmandu. Prime Minister Balen Shah has expressed congratulations and high respect to Kami Rita Sherpa for successfully climbing Sagarmatha for the 32nd time and Lakpa Sherpa for climbing Sagarmatha for the 11th time.

Through the social media platform X, Prime Minister Shah expressed his belief that this supreme success of the climbers will make Nepal's mountain tourism more reliable, glorious, and attractive, further brightening Nepal's identity in the international arena.

Sherpa renewed his own world record by successfully climbing Sagarmatha for the 32nd time today at 10:12 AM. "The world's highest peak, Sagarmatha, is not just an element of geographical height, but the supreme symbol of Nepal's self-respect, courage, patience, and Himalayan civilization. On this glorious mountain, Nepali climbers have once again written history," the Prime Minister said.

Additionally, Lakpa Sherpa, known as 'Mountain Queen', set a world record for the most ascents of Sagarmatha by a female climber by successfully climbing Sagarmatha for the 11th time today at 9:30 AM.

"Such historic success can only be achieved through continuous indomitable courage, strict self-discipline, and honest dedication to work," said Prime Minister Shah, adding, "I share this moment of joy with everyone and extend my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to both climbers."

He stated that the contribution of the Sherpa community to Nepal's mountaineering history is extraordinary and unique. Mentioning that Sherpas, who worship the Himalayas like gods, accept risks as responsibilities, and safely guide climbers from around the world to the summit, are truly the unseen heroes of the Himalayas, Prime Minister Shah said that the glory of the Himalayas would be incomplete without their courage, knowledge, and labor.

"On behalf of all Nepalis, I extend my heartfelt congratulations and high respect to Kami Rita Sherpa, Lakpa Sherpa, and all climbers, the Sherpa community, and everyone dedicated to the field of mountaineering," the Prime Minister said.
