Narayan-Butwal Road Expansion Nears Completion

Kathmandu. The expansion work of the East-West Highway, specifically the Narayan-Ghat-Butwal road section, which has been stalled for a long time, has reached its final stage. The physical progress of the project has reached 91 percent, informed the Director General of the Department of Roads, Dr. Vijay Jesi. Director General Dr. Jesi provided this information while conducting an on-site inspection of the Nagdhunga-Naubise and Narayan-Ghat-Butwal road sections. He stated that most of the main construction work for the project has been completed. According to him, only finishing, traffic safety, service lane, and some auxiliary structure construction works remain. He said, 'The Narayan-Ghat-Butwal road has been problematic for a long time. We have now reached the final stage of construction. We have received information that the physical progress is 91 percent, all major works are completed, and some works like finishing, traffic safety, and service lanes are remaining.' Director General Jesi said that the problem of traffic obstruction in the Daunne area, which occurred in previous rainy seasons, will not be faced again. He stated that the one-way two-lane repavement in Daunne has been completed, and the construction of the third lane is progressing rapidly. He informed that the main work is targeted to be completed by Jestha 15th. Passengers had been suffering due to delays in the construction of the Narayan-Ghat-Butwal road section. He said, 'There will be no problem like in the past rainy season. We have completed most of the work. The work on one side's two lanes is finished, and the work on the third lane is underway. The main works will be completed by Jestha 15th. After a long time, the Nepali people will not have to endure the hardship of Daunne.' A delegation led by Infrastructure Development Minister Sunil Lamsal had conducted an on-site inspection of the Nagdhunga-Naubise and Narayan-Ghat road sections on Saturday. During the inspection, the construction entrepreneurs complained about the shortage of bitumen. They requested the government to facilitate the import of bitumen.
